When does Order of the Sinking Star come out?
October 8, 2026, on PC via Steam and Steam Deck, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2. There is no Xbox, Game Pass, PlayStation 4 or Switch 1 version.
Is there a free demo?
Yes. The demo is a separate free app on Steam, released on June 15, 2026 during Steam Next Fest, and it was still available as of September 24, 2026. It received a content update on June 19 that the studio calls Demo Part 2.
Does demo progress carry over to the full game?
Yes, for the Steam version. The studio has stated that progress made in the demo carries over to the launch version. Progress does not transfer between platforms, and players report that importing a demo save skips a north-east area that previously had to be unlocked.
How many puzzles does it have?
The store describes more than one thousand interconnected hand-crafted puzzles. Jonathan Blow has separately said the count is over 1,400. The official FAQ says more than 500 hours of gameplay await the most dedicated solvers.
Can I buy it yet, and what does it cost?
The Nintendo Switch 2 version is listed at $29.99 in the United States. As of September 24, 2026 the Steam and PlayStation 5 versions have no published price and there is no pre-purchase option on Steam.
Are there achievements?
The full game has Steam Achievements, but no achievement or trophy list was public as of September 24, 2026. The demo has no achievements.
